As writers, we strive to imagine our audiences. We craft our words carefully, hoping they’ll get people talking once they’re out in the world. But what about our many conversations before publication?
For me, the fun of writing includes all the behind-the-scenes collaborations, from interviewing sources to incorporating a copyeditor’s suggestions. I bring that sense of fun to editing, too, relishing the back-and-forth with fellow writers on their own quests to ignite discussion and debate.
I’m shaped by my background in music and ethnography, inspired to write especially when I have a diversity of voices in my ears.
As an editor, I gather, organize, and refine compelling stories. Using developmental editing and line editing, I help academic and nonfiction writers structure persuasive arguments and create sentences that sing.
