As a freelance editor, I serve as a project manager, collaborating with writers to solicit and evaluate pitches, arrange story deadlines, and edit copy for publication.
With my history of publication and several years of college teaching, I also bring a wealth of experience to the task of helping academic and nonfiction writers shape their ideas, sharpen their messages, and craft informative, appealing prose through developmental and line editing.
Developmental editing allows me to assist authors in
- highlighting the most engaging themes in their material;
- ensuring the persuasive unfolding and support of their arguments;
- incorporating peer reviewers’ feedback; and
- organizing their book chapters and the sections within them.
Line editing is the tool I use to help writers shape their language at the sentence level, amplifying their voices by eliminating any obstacles to smoothly flowing prose.
With experience writing and editing journalism, I also enjoy helping nonfiction authors, including scholars, speak to broader audiences by streamlining their style.
